Kitchen Remodel...

So we are/have been basically done with our kitchen remodel for a few months now. I was waiting to take pictures until EVERYTHING is done, but I am not sure when that will be. All we need to do is add a few trim pieces and put in the new window sills. Here are some pictures of the project from start to finish.

This is our kitchen before the remodel. It is a bit deceiving. We had already done some things to it because when we bought the home as a foreclosure the kitchen was disgusting!! We actually found a drug pipe in one of the cabinets. Before this picture was taken we cleaned, painted, tore out upper cabinets over the bar, replaced the very GROSS stove and oven and put in lighting. We didn't think we would have the $ to redo the kitchen for awhile, so we did enough to make it livable. It was worse in real life than it looks in the picture!

We got to work on demo and then started rebuilding. Connor had to get in on the action!

We tore out the drop ceiling because it felt like a cave in the kitchen. Sheet rock particles got everywhere! You can see them in the picture. I was about 5 months pregnant at this time and wore my father in law's gas mask thing much of the time!

Once we got the ceiling and wall patched up, we ripped up the vinyl and particle board over the floor boards. We needed to rip out the particle board to have clearance for doors to open and close when we added the tile. It was a long process. We had a few "work parties" and family members came over to help. The builders put about a million staples in the boards, so they came up in about 3 inch pieces! It took FOREVER!

This is what it looked like for about 2 months! I washed dishes in the bathtub!

This was our kitchen for a long while. We used the table and the microwave. Everything else was out of commission.

THE FINISHED PRODUCT:

The tile and backsplash, cabinet color, faucet and range are some of my favorite thing!

I am so happy with how it turned out! David is amazing...and so are all of our family members that helped us, especially Keith Marchant (David's dad). He was here most nights for a few weeks and helped SO much! I love being in the kitchen now...even if I am not the cook (David is!). Hey, I even enjoy cleaning this kitchen now.
